"Last year, I weighed in at a good 300 pounds. And for the most part for some reason, I was comfortable with it. After the multiple attempts at dieting, exercising, and all that on my own and coming short, I came to terms with my image and lived life. In March of 2012, I went to the hospital and was basically told if my habits didn't change I could suffer a heart attack before the age of 30. I reached out to Rex, who was a good friend of mine throughout my teenage years, and I had seen the absolute amazing results of his training. Today, 10 and a half months since I began working with Rex, I am now 100 pounds lighter today, and am in the best shape of my life. A countless amount of my friends have approached me, inspired by my transformation, and I owe it all to Rex. I still have work to do, and Rex is STILL giving me the advice and the training necessary to get me where I want to be. If it wasn't for him, I don't know where I'd be. He changed my life, for the better, and there isn't any amount of words in the English language to thank him for all he has done for me.

"I joined the City Fitness – Bradenton family about 4 months ago in preparation for my high school class reunion, and to improve my overall health. In working with the trainers, they developed a personalized training program to fit my specific needs and areas of improvement. "I lost 40 pounds and 21 inches in the 16 weeks that Rex at City Fitness was my trainer. Did I starve myself? No way. Did I follow a specific diet? Nope. Did I exercise incessantly? No, I didn’t do that either. But I worked hard in the weight room and I learned to love the huge amounts of calories I burned by using an elliptical. And, most importantly, I kept track of every morsel of food and drink.

Although I was doing all the hard work, Rex was as instrumental in my weight-loss success as I was. He conducted a fitness evaluation to determine my body mechanics, lifestyle, health history and goals, then tailored exercises so I would be less likely to injure myself on days I worked out alone. Rex taught me proper form, technique, and made sure I understood what muscles I was working. He was quick to respond to questions. And he stressed the importance of good nutrition before and after workouts (and all the other times in between). He constantly encouraged me to challenge myself.

My contract with Rex has ended; however, his support continues. We meet monthly so I can weigh in and take measurements. This follow up helps to keep me focused and still gives me a sense of accountability. Plus, he’s one of my biggest cheerleaders. Who doesn’t want or need that?

My advice to anyone considering joining City Fitness and hiring a trainer, especially Rex, is to just do it. If you listen to what Rex says, and if you work hard, challenge yourself and eat right, I promise you’ll be happy with the results."
